Summary The physical therapist provides physical therapy treatment and patient care according to hospital, state, professional and federal regulations and guidelines.
In addition, the position requires effective communication skills for working with patients, families, caregivers, and departmental and interdepartmental relationships; competency in physical therapy evaluation, assessment, care planning and treatment; task delegation and supervision of physical therapist assistants and technicians; maintains open and ongoing communication with hospital departments to ensure patient, staff, and hospital needs are met.
The physical therapist creates an environment and culture that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission by providing patient safety and patient-centered treatment.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Education:
Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited Physical Therapy Program is preferred.
License/Certifications:
Maine State license in Physical Therapy required.
BLS certification required.
Experience:
Experience in outpatient and/or acute care setting working with patients with orthopedic, cardiovascular, neurological or integumentary conditions is preferred.
Must have the ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbal arenas as well as via e-mail.
Must have the ability to work independently without supervision.
Use of general office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer.
